Shakas Rock

shakas-rock

Shakas Rock is just 5 kilometres to the North of Ballito and is a small residential area with a wide range of accommodation to choose from.  It is also home to a beautiful stretch of sandy beach as well as a fine tidal pool bordered by picturesque, rocky cliffs.  The beach at Shakas Rock is a favourite ski-boat launch site, and beach-goers are often treated to the spectacular launching and beaching of the daredevil wave riders returning from a deep sea fishing trip.  It’s name comes from a promontory over which the Zulu chief Shaka is said to have thrown his enemies and to have tested his men by daring them to jump to their deaths.
